My Playing Career

Growing up I always loved hockey. This growing passion of mine led me to attending a Children’s Hockey Academy in Chelyabinsk, Russia

After I graduated at 16, I came to Canada after being drafted by the Kamloops Blazers and played there for 3 years with players that have been, or are still currently are in the NHL like Devan Dubnyk, Scottie Upshall, and Shaone Morrisonn to name a few. And in the last year of my 4 year WHL career with the Tri City Americans playing with Canada’s beloved goalie, Carey Price.

In 2002, I was drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers and spent the next few years in the AHL and ECHL until I decided to move back home to Russia in 2007 and continue my hockey career in the KHL.

While playing in the KHL I had the privilege to be coached under former Calgary Flames forward Andrei Nazarov, as well as play with some of NHL’s top players like Artemi Panarin, Evgeni Kuznetsov, Alexander Ovechkin, and many more.

My Coaching Experience

During my time as a junior hockey player I was also a post-secondary student at Ural Sports Academy in Russia and in 2004 I received a Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management with a major in Hockey Coaching.

In 2005, after successful completion of practical training in a youth summer hockey camp, I received my Master’s Degree as a specialist in physical education.

During those university years I developed a passion for hockey coaching on and off the ice and for several years during the off-season I worked with WHL/NHL/KHL players to prepare them for the upcoming hockey season.

Today, I have over 15 years of hockey coaching experience and have worked with numerous hockey academies and private students.

And with each person or group that I work with I customize my sessions to fit their needs using the North American and European hockey styles that I’ve mastered over the years to help give kids a competitive advantage over those that don’t have the knowledge of both styles.

What I Bring To The Ice

With a 15 year playing career and coaching experience both in North America and Europe, I’m able to blend the fast paced style of the NHL with the strategic perimeter style of the KHL.

This gives kids a wide array of knowledge and experience that they will practice with me over and over again until it’s built into their muscle memory. That way, during a game, they have the blend of tools and skill sets that other players don’t have which gives them the ability to outwork and outsmart the opponent and become a well-rounded player.

And because the game of hockey changes so much over time, with the current close-knit relationships I hold with players like Evgeni Kuznetsov, Evgeni Dadonov and Artemi Panarin, I’m able to adapt my coaching based on what’s working in the NHL. That way kids can replicate it on the ice and see the best results possible whether that’s an increase in speed, shot accuracy/power, goals scored, or any other category.
